Internet Wars
Clash of the titans FBI and WIKI |
Be it a movie review or a disastrous happening or to know the results of an international dance series, I always end up in Wikipedia.
And being a master of all information, you might wonder they rule the internet. But see where you have to bow your heads.
"The FBI has not authorized use of the FBI seal on Wikipedia," read a letter from the agency, which goes on to say "it facilitates both deliberate and unwitting" copying and reprinting of the seal's image.
It started with the FBI being worried about some despicable character would use the badge in wiki to create a badge of his own, thus leading to unwanted scams.
But the lawyer from wiki has sent a sarcastic comment to the bureau arguing that
“We are compelled as a matter of law and principle to deny your demand for removal of the FBI seal from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.”
Their argument was that the seal also appears in Encyclopedia Britannica’s online entry.
